New 3rd & I Street Park and Playground Opens!

3rd and I Street Park BEFORE AND AFTER

After only a few short weeks, Phase I of the 3rd and I Street Library Park improvement is now complete! On Tuesday, August 19th, the construction fencing came down, and immediately, residents from the entire surrounding neighborhood began to enjoy the park's new playground addition. A true testament to how something so relatively small can make a huge impact on our community! Already, play-dates have begun, neighbors are meeting each other, the number of patrons at the library is increasing, and a stronger community is being built! Truly, this is the community's gift to itself.

The Southwest Playground Project, with the support of the Near SE/SW Community Benefits Coordinating Council (CBCC) thanks everyone who helped to make this beautiful park a reality! We will keep the community informed of the planned ribbon-cutting date. Finally, although we will have regular clean-up dates, we encourage everyone to please help to keep our park clean and trash-free.
